A native (and relentlessly proud) Texan, I earned my BFA in Acting at St. Edwards University in Austin before moving east to pursue taking social cues from realtive strangers in front of large groups of complete strangers for a living.
I chose to be an actor because I am inspired by people. I strive to live in a place where art is influenced by all of us; the people who make it, who see it, who hate it, who don't get it, and who love it.
I am currently living and working in New York City, a member of the Flea Theater's resident acting company; The Bats.
is a New York based actor. Sophia is currently appearing in Strangemen & Co.'s THE WOODSMAN as The Witch at 59E59 Theaters. Broadway World says "the Wicked Witch of the East, whose face is truly terrible, and on whom Sophia Zukoski bestows the most deliciously strange of sound effects" makes "quite a mark on the stage". Flavorpill calls Sophia Zukoski's portrayal as The Wicked Witch of the East a "stunning performance". Earlier this year she played Sandra in Electric Eye Ensemble's first production of HOME IN MOTION at WOW! Theaters. Some of her favorite roles at SUNY Purchase College Repertory Theater include Maureen in The Beauty Queen of Leenane, Carol in Red Cross, and Dolly Hamma in Orpheus Descending.
Sophia recently graduated from SUNY Purchase College Conservatory of Acting where she received her BFA. Ms. Zukoski was the sole Acting Finalist for the Thayer Arts Fellowship. The Fellowship acknowledges her as the most professionally promising Acting candidate from all SUNY Colleges.
